This year we will once again be working with our long-time collaborators the Toronto International Film Festival. As always, we will be putting together a series of screenings that brings together a strong selection of the most interesting, provocative, entertaining, and enlightening cinema available today.
Emerging Voices
Emerging Voices, our play workshop series, supports new play development, providing local theatre lovers a chance to participate in the creative process and, for playwrights, an invaluable platform to refine and develop their work with the support of professional actors and TheatreOne dramaturg Jessica Schacht.

What’s Going On at TheatreOne
A Note from our Artistic Director, David Mann

I have been proudly associated with TheatreOne since 2000, when I first served as Artistic Director for four years, returning after a hiatus eight years ago to again lead the company in its artistic programming and vision.
As a fully professional theatre company, TheatreOne is a cornerstone of the Arts in Nanaimo and the Mid-Island. Thanks to the breadth of our progamming, we speak to and serve a diversity of audiences, from the very young, to theatre and film lovers, to theatre professionals through our play development work. That breadth makes us unique on the Island, a strength we are committed to building from as we move forward.
As for so many Arts organizations, the fallout from COVID have challenged us on every front. Yet thanks to the tremendous support of governments and local organizations to the Arts we enter 2020-21 with optimism: we continue to plan and create, with a full slate of programming in the offing.
We hope to see you in the theatre! David mann, artistic director
