Damon Calderwood has brought a fresh interpretation to one of Canada’s most enduring plays, making this musical so full of humour, hellfire, and the boldness of an extraordinary career of this military hero. Join Billy Bishop as he reconciles the ecstasy of flying with the horrors of war, in this captivating show.
WILD GEESE – by Jennifer Wynne Webber
WILD GEESE is an uplifting – and up-to-the-minute – family drama with a big heart and even bigger laughs. Cass is a busy columnist trying to build her career as an on-air media personality. She’s married to Zoe, an artist originally from Montreal who is keen to start a family. Then there’s Cass’s elderly dad Sam. He’s a hardheaded farmer in failing health who doesn’t want to admit that he needs help, even though that’s exactly what he needs. To Cass and Zoe, opening their home to Sam seems like only the right and decent thing to do. But, when Sam moves in, urban meets rural, family values clash – and the feathers really start to fly. At core, this moving and original new play is about how to follow your heart, even when it feels like you might be on a wild goose chase, and about learning to love, even when people change beyond recognition – yourself included.
By the author of the hit play, WITH GLOWING HEARTS: How Ordinary Women Worked Together to Change the World (And Did), which premiered at TheatreOne in 2018.
Our 2023/24 season:
